Rooted in History and Tradtion
Historical events and encounters at Schloss Neubeuern continue to characterise life and learning in the castle today. “Noblesse oblige“ was the maxim of the school founder Julie Freifrau von Wendelstadt, who welcomed contemporaries of fine art as significant as the poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal, the painter Franz von Lenbach or the composer Max von Schillings as castle guests in the 1920s. Schloss Neubeuern was an important meeting point for the artistic scene, where the regular occurrence of “Neubeurer Woche" (Neubeuern week) at the turn of the year reached its climax.

Social commitment was a matter of course, as is reflected in the numerous entries in the guest books; particularly at the time of the two world wars, and today is still a model and stimulus for our work. A responsible and critical relationship with history is therefore an important educational aim for us. Our guest books provide us with a historical goldmine of inspiration – even in the context of the challenges of modern times.
