Open Day at Neubeuern Castle

On Wednesday 18 March, 54 participants from all over Bavaria were guests at Neubeuern Castle and experienced a personal tour of our castle and the school grounds.
Our guests were welcomed from 2.30 pm by our school’s own castle fire brigade and instructed to park. At the entrance, they were greeted personally by Head of Boarding School Susanne Schörghuber and then escorted to the library by pupils from the Event Guild.

In our beautiful, historic library, everything had already been prepared for a welcome with coffee and cake. Together with Susanne Schörghuber, the Board of Trustees and Headmaster Thomas Straßer presented the boarding school. The focus here was on the nature of our day school, which stands out from the state schools in the region due to its close links with the boarding school. Parents, who usually start looking for a school very early on when their children are preparing to transfer to grammar school, are not usually aware of this. For this reason, the idea for this eventful journey of discovery was born at Schloss Neubeuern. The school management was delighted with the lively interest – especially as some parents took the opportunity with their children to familiarise themselves with boarding school life at Schloss Neubeuern.

Adventurous tour

The guests were divided into three groups and guided by our students to a total of eight stations.
First, they took a look at our historic ballroom, where all the other students were gathered that afternoon for a presentation by the Schloss Neubeuern ACADEMY.
They then headed across the south terrace to the MINT Centre, where our MINT students presented their research projects to them.
During a visit to our student kitchen, the guests enjoyed a culinary tasting of our cookery guild.
They then moved on to the Riederhaus school building, where they were given interesting insights into the pupils’ project week in the modernly furnished cashier’s room.
The tour then led to the “stable” of the castle fire brigade, where the fire engine was of course available for inspection. This offer was very gladly accepted by the young visitors.
The group rooms and some rooms in the “Kronehaus” residential building, directly opposite, could also be inspected in detail.
After a short walk, the highlight of the afternoon was obviously our modern sports hall with its flexible artificial turf pitch, which is located in a clearing in the middle of the forest. Here, the guests were given a good impression of the sports on offer in Neubeuern – the performance by the fencing guild was of course incredibly impressive.

Our oldest and most beautiful classrooms exuded their very special splendour, as did the Year 5 pupils, who presented their P-seminar to the guests at the end of the voyage of discovery.

A pleasant exchange
Finally, we returned to the library, where our pupils and the school management were on hand to answer questions. A school brochure to take away rounded off the visit from our guests, who were all very pleased and impressed – especially by our pupils, who they found to be extremely charming, self-confident and polite. We were all very proud of this entertaining afternoon, during which we were pleased to provide an insight into our beautiful Neubeuern Castle.

The next Open Day with an equally exciting journey of discovery will take place on 13 May 2026
We look forward to seeing you!
