Internship at FC Bayern Munich
03.03.2025- 07.03.2025
As part of the October 2024 business forum, Uli Hoenes donated an internship at FC Bayern Munich as a guest gift. Of course, there was a huge rush for this internship, but in the end, Paul Sixel from Year 11 was lucky and embarked on an experience that he won’t soon forget. Here is his report:My internship at FC Bayern München AG
I completed my internship at FC Bayern Munich. I decided to accept this opportunity and apply because I am interested in sport and marketing and wanted to gain an insight into the day-to-day running of a company/club.
My first impression was very positive. The atmosphere was very informal. The staff were friendly and helpful and I quickly got used to the working atmosphere and my colleagues. I also liked the fact that I was surrounded by other interns, mostly students, with whom I could socialise.
The day usually consisted of an office session in the morning, during which I sent advertising posters to other clubs, wrote emails to organisations and created Excel spreadsheets to prepare for upcoming training sessions. One of the highlights was the good food on offer (soon to be the same in Neubeuern, I’m sure). At lunchtime, we usually prepared our van, equipped it with the necessary materials for the youth training programme and then drove to the FC Bayern Campus training session at around 2 pm.
As a trainee, I was allowed to take on responsible tasks at these campus training sessions in the afternoons, such as organising and liaising with parents if any questions arose. I was also allowed to help train the players.
The highlights of the week consisted of little insights into the world of the professional footballers who trained outside my office window every day. There were also little souvenirs to sweeten the week.
Overall, the internship was a great experience. I was able to learn a lot of new things, especially in the area of organisation. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and was able to gain valuable insights into everyday working life in the sports business. This internship helped me to better define my interests and I can imagine working in a similar profession in the future.
