The "borderless" project week

Science Week took place at our school, Schloss Neubeuern, from 17 February to 21 February. The eleventh graders had the opportunity to intensively deal with a key question from their chosen subject area.
The topics were varied and centred around the overarching motto “Boundless”. For example, they investigated whether the spread of English promotes global understanding or reinforces linguistic inequalities. In physics, physical borders were explored using a thermal imaging camera, while in Spanish, the migration of Latin American people to Mexico was investigated.
The working atmosphere was focussed and the groups initially chose a presentation medium that they worked towards in a structured manner. The results were presented in different ways: In addition to traditional lectures, there were gallery walks, a website presentation and an interview debate on the topic of ‘cryptocurrencies vs. central banks’. In addition, various types of accumulators and their performance were examined in an experiment, while infinity was discussed in the maths section.

At the end of the week, all groups presented their results. The presentations were introduced in various ways, and pupils from Year 9 and 10 also had the opportunity to watch some of the presentations on Friday. The contributions were informative and varied, and it was exciting to see how differently the groups had prepared their topics. Overall, the science week was an educational experience that enabled the pupils to work independently and to engage intensively with a topic. It also provided good preparation for next year’s W-seminar.
